 hi Lisa

We`ve been getting your messages via Isabel and also via the Coalition.
Many people around the world are working hard on this campaign including
many of your former neighbours on Jeanne Mance St especially Audrey and
Martin (who just got the award Artist pour la Paix 2002). We can only
imagine what it`s like for you to be sitting on this time bomb that so
many are trying to defuse. Your call for creative protest will be
heeded.

love and strength

Gerald and Sarah

For Mary Foster:

Mary, have you made arrangements for the Feb.20 symposium
in Toronto? Bill Baldwin and I are thinking of train reservations
and lodging at the Quaker meeting house at downtown Toronto near
the symposium venue.

Do you want us to make arrangements for you also?

Eric Schiller

I imagine your reports are written quickly and without
crafting and editing, and that the conditions you are
writing under don't allow that luxury. You should
know that they are all the more striking and powerful
as well as -- really -- beautiful for all that.

Thank you for your work. Keep safe and keep on
keeping our Iraqi brothers and sisters safe as well.

Hello IPT,

Just a quick mail to show I'm still with you, and to
thank you all for your reports and other work.

Lisa, the last 2 paragraphs of this message have moved
me to tears ... just beautiful.

I will continue to forward your reports around
Australia.

Keep up the great work. You know you're not alone.

A bientot, take care of each other,

Anthony.
PS Special "g'day" to Mick! How are you mate? Miss
having you around to chat to. Must find a "Mick" here
in Oz!! :)

 Dear Mary, Mick & Lisa:

I received one Citizen Op-Ed article, and 2 reports, which I entitled:
"Iraqi Arts Café: Celebrating Life, Learning & Music" and "The Eyes of
Children Looking Back at Us". They have been sent out. Thank you, they are
soooo well written, and transport the reader into the streets at your side.
It takes a lot of character and fortitude to actually *be* there, observe
and describe, and communicate it back to us. Good work.

Hugs, Vallie

from Alex Moldovan, PATRIR, Romania:

Dear Vallie Stearns,
Thank you for your information.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) the departure was delayed for 2 weeks. It is
good that I have now new info about other people whom are there with the
same goal as us.

Please let us know of any further events that IPT will organize and maybe
here from Romania the people from Romanian Peace Institute - PATRIR - will
give you the support.

Best regards,
Alex Moldovan.

From Dave Bleakney, CUPW:

I am writing you from Brasil where my syndicate sent me to be part of
the movement that says another world is possible - I am not so brave as
those who have gone to show their love and solidarity in such times with
such conviction and humanity. But these brave souls represent to us the
knowledge that good people with deep hearts know your struggle in this
period - I cannot help but be moved by our common hope, that our dreams
that smiles and joy and hope are much greater than hate and emptiness. I
feel not anger but pity for those that would inflict destruction on
humanity and our sisters and brothers of the middle east - your
acknowledment gives us all hope that we are together, we are one, we
share the pain and fear - we will turn this into something positive, my
hopes and the hopes of my union are shared with all of you, you give us
more hope than you can know, please do not believe the lies and
distortions of our corporate media, they do not represent us at
all....may Allah and peace be with you, because we will not forget and
hide anymore, our dreams are yours, our embrace is enternal, our
humanity shall not be broken or hidden...in love, peace and solidarity,

To Mary from Vallie:

Yesterday your landlord called. He said it wasn`t urgent. He asked if you
were in Iraq, wanted to know when you'd be back, and then said you could
call him when you return.

Let me know if there's anything you want me to do to follow up.

 Hey there Famous Trio:

I got your e-mail with all the media requests, and I have followed up with
them, but still waiting to hear back. More later on that.

I called Sunday morning at 8 a.m. your time, but you had already left for
Basra. Hope you have a useful trip, and will try you again Tuesday morning
your time. I wonder if you will be able to send e-mails or not while you
are gone. Will keep checking my computer over the next couple of days, just
in case.

As Jill would say, good vibes, and positive thoughts... Vallie

Lui and Peignam have received temporary permission from Gov. of India to negotiate Peace talks in Nagaland. Lui left wednesday and peignam leaves on Monday. They wanted me to send greetings to you and good wishes before they left. As you can imagine their return is quite dangerous. I have newspaper articles for you.

Hi Famous Three!

(Jawdat: please post)

Our hearts and imaginations are with you as you attend the vigil today at the shelter that was bombed.

Let me know if and how we will hear from you while you on your 3-day trip to Basra from Sunday to Tuesday.

Your first reports were awesome! Way to go!

Hugs, Vallie

------------------------

CBC Radio "Ottawa Morning": As I told you on the phone, Ottawa Morning wants to do a pre-recorded or live phone interview on Monday at 6 a.m. (2 p.m. your time) or 7:15 a.m. (3:15 p.m. your time). The 2 p.m. would be the pre-recorded, and 3:15 would be the live slot.

Their studio phone number is 613-241-7251.
Their office phone number is 613-562-8445.

Jane Anido is the Producer, Amira Elghawaby is the Associate Producer, and Julie Delaney, Associate Producer of the Ottawa News Room is the third contact there.

I am waiting to hear from you whether your schedule in Basra would allow for that. Please let me know.

------------------------

CHUO 89.1 FM: Mitchell Caplan has a 5:00 news show. He wants to interview you, live if possible, and get you on the phone 15 mins. prior -- that would be 12:45 a.m. your time. This is just to confirm that Mick and/or Lisa will be available to do that. I will let him know.

Lisa: je vais contacter Caroline Harvey au sujet des entrevues téléphoniques avec CIBL, CKAC, et Radio-Canada Sans frontières. Salut et bonne chance!

CBC Town Hall Meeting on Tues, 4-7:30 (that's starting at 12 a.m., while you are sleeping!). Please write a list of questions, maybe 5??? and send them to us by e-mail so that we can pose them to the panelists on your behalf. This is to confirm that you will do this in the next couple of days.

> Dear members of the delegation,
> I am a journalist at the University of King's College in Halifax, and I am in the process of writing an article about your involvement in this project. I was wondering if I could 'follow' you around virtually on your journey delivering the school supplies to schools in Iraq. I'm wondering if you could answer these questions for the report:

1. Why did you decide to go to Iraq to deliver the supplies? (What are your names, by the way, and what is your exact title?)
2. How did the trip go?
3. What were some of the first steps you made when you arrived in Iraq? (In what cities will you be distributing some of the supplies?)
4. What has the reaction been so far? What's the experience like for you?
5. What are the school conditions like? What are the short comings teachers, parents and students face on a daily basis?
6. How important is this mission to you?
I would love to hear from you and write about this trip. I think it's a compelling story!
Sincerely, Anne Larrass

Hi Mary, Mick and Lisa!
Just wanted you to know that back home the old folks are working hard on behalf of the cause. Jane and George spent Thursday in a Cornwall mall (Eastcourt, Mary) and collected 600 signatures on their "Say no to war," petition!

See what an inspiration you are?

Subject: to Lisa, Mary & Mick #4
Hey folks... welcome to Baghdad!
Please let me know your phone number and room number so I can direct media your way. Also let me know if you are being contacted by reporters there, and which media (tv, radio, print, etc.)

I will stand by the phone Thursday night, 11 pm our time, 8 am your time. Even if you have nothing to say, it might be good to say hello to make sure that connection is there. 613-729-6392. Let me know if you want me to call you, and if so, what time.

Your interview on CKUT was great, I downloaded and listened to it yesterday.

I got a call from Paddy Moore of CBC Online yesterday and again today, hoping to get some news about the situation about Iraqis in Jordan, and also a preamble from Mick to get things started.

Also, Mick and Mary... don't forget to write an article for Citizen Editorial Pages... perhaps for early next week?? (750-800 words).

Did you get e-mail #3 that I sent to iptcanada? If not, the information in that email is in this one.

Hugs!
Vallie, on behalf of Ottawa-Montreal support groups
